Jamar Simien is an award-winning artist/designer and a published fine artist who travels the world regularly. His background is in urban design, and he holds a degree from Louisiana State University (LSU) in Landscape Architecture. He is an experienced oil painter, with a specialty in realistic portraiture, and has held solo exhibitions in Baton Rouge, Houston, and Los Angeles.
Jamar Simien is the owner of Power of Color, an art company and is the co-founder, CEO, and Creative Director of Contour Functional Art, a design and build firm located in Houston, Texas. The company’s mission is to connect America with Africa through thoughtful and sustainable design. Contour collaborates with artisans in Malawi with the intention of building a design school in Lilongwe, the capital city. Contour is partnered with a nonprofit that has hundreds of tree nurseries across the country. For every piece of handmade exotic artistic furniture sold by the company, trees are planted in East Africa to offset deforestation.
As a founding member of Contour, Jamar oversees the design and creative direction of the company.
