Ákos Huber is a designer working on various scales. His work has covered many fields ranging from furniture design to architecture, from drawings to sculptural works. He completed his Master’s degree in architecture at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. Ákos has lived, worked, and explored art, design, and architecture in different global cities such as Budapest, Berlin, Munich, London, and Portland. Cultural diversity, traveling, observing nature, and landscapes are always a great source of inspiration for his designer furniture. He is based in Portland, Oregon.
Ákos believes that the experimental approach is essential to developing designs in a fresh, unusual, and unique way. The design process starts with material research, sketches, and model studies. His work is located at the intersection of artistry, design, and architecture. He is engaged in finding connection between tradition and innovation, craft, and technology and strives for designing objects that alloy local values with universal meaning. Unexpected material combinations and sustainable solutions also play an important role in his work. Besides these Ákos interprets drawing as an autonomous activity.
