Two columns and a slab

The Citadelle is built around one decision: give the headboard a frame instead of a wall. Two columns rise on either side of the bed and carry a single live-edge slab between them. The columns give the piece its height and its name. They also set the slab far enough forward that its natural edge reads in profile, not just head on.

Nersi Nasseri designed the bed so the slab stays the subject. The columns are plain by choice, squared and unornamented, so nothing competes with the grain and the natural edge running across the top. Every slab is different, which means no two Citadelle headboards have the same outline.

Options and construction

The headboard does not have to stay bare wood. It can be padded and upholstered instead, in fabric or leather. That softens the bed where you actually lean against it, while the column frame stays intact. Wood species, finish, and column proportions are all specified per order.

The bed is made in queen and king as standard, and the dimensions move from there if a room needs something else. Because the frame is built to the slab, we confirm the exact headboard height once the slab is selected.
